Course FAQs

How do I sign up for courses with Happier?

Open the Happier Meditation app and tap Courses on the menu bar at the bottom of your screen. With a subscription, you have access to the full library. Click on any course title to view the lessons. When you’re ready to start a lesson, tap the play button. Next time you open the app you’ll see your in-progress course on the home page. You can listen to as many courses at once as you’d like, though many people like to focus on one on at a time.

Are courses free or do I have to have a subscription?

The Dalai Lama’s Guide to Happiness is always free and we sometimes offer other courses free for a limited time. Subscribers get access to our full library of 500+ guided meditations and mindfulness courses. You can sign up for a free 7 day trial subscription here.

What tools and resources will I get access to during the course?

Each course includes lessons to explain core concepts and special topics. You can choose courses on mindfulness, meditation, self-compassion, calming your inner-critic, focus and other tools for living a happier life. In addition to instruction from the field’s top teachers, the courses include guided meditations to practice and integrate the lessons. These meditations can be saved and played on their own too, so you can return to your favorites and build skills through repetition.

How long does each mindfulness course last?

You can complete our mindfulness and meditation courses in anything from a few days to a month, or longer if you wish. The courses are made up of lessons you play as you're ready. Many people like to do one lesson a day while others do several over a weekend for an intensive experience, or one a week to have more time to absorb the instruction and practice with the featured meditation. Feel free to experiment to find a pace that works for you.

How many courses does Happier offer?

We offer 30+ full courses as well as more than 500 single meditations, plus one-off instructions called “Teacher Talks” and themed collections of meditations. We also have short video format content. Practice in Action videos will help you apply the wisdom you're getting from practicing meditation in your everyday life. Wisdom Clips are a moment of inspiration in your day and to help you remember the things you learn when you practice meditation.

Are there courses for stress or anxiety?

Yes, we offer multiple courses, meditations, meditation collections and teacher talks to help with stress and anxiety. To quickly find courses for stress and anxiety, open the app and click on the search icon in the upper right, then type in the word “anxiety” or click on it in the Suggested list. Choose from hundreds of meditations and classes to help you soothe and respond to stress and anxiety.

What if I don’t want to do a course, can I still meditate with Happier?

Definitely, in fact listening to a single guided meditation is one of the most popular ways to use our app. In your Home tab when you open the app, you’ll find suggestions every day. If you tap Singles in the menu bar at the bottom of the app, you’ll have access to a library of more than 500 guided meditations. Search these by theme or teacher, or favorite meditations to have handy when you don't want to browse. Practicing repeatedly with the same meditation is a wonderful way to really integrate the benefits into our lives and nervous systems, while listening to new content keeps our interest in meditation fresh. You’re able to do both easily without doing a full course anytime you open the Happier app.

Do what it actually takes to be happier.
